Privacy and cookies

This policy explains how the Ordwick Bookstore (store.ordwick.com) uses your personal data, including when you buy books, write reviews or publish your own book with us.
Who we are
Ordwick Media & Publications Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16000733), registered office 86 Great Portland Street, 1st Floor, London, W1W 7LT is the controller of your personal data. Contact us about privacy at [email protected]. For our editing and publishing services, see the ordwick.com privacy policy.
The data we collect
- Account: your name, email address and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password.
- Orders: the books you buy, your delivery address and phone number, and payment status. Stripe and PayPal handle card and account details, so we never see them.
- Reviews: the ratings and reviews you post, shown with your first name.
- Authors who publish with us: your author profile, manuscripts, cover files and sales reports. Royalty payouts go through Stripe, which collects your bank details directly.
- Clicks to other stores: when you click “Buy at Amazon” or another store, we record the click, the page you came from and your browser type, so we can count which links people use.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or through our forms.
How we use it and why
- To run your account, deliver your orders and give you your eBooks. We need this to perform our contract with you.
- To publish your book and pay your royalties, if you are an author. This is also part of our contract.
- To keep records for tax and accounting, as the law requires.
- To keep the store secure and improve it. This is our legitimate interest.
- To measure our advertising, only if you accept marketing cookies.
We never sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
We use trusted providers who process data for us: Stripe and PayPal (payments and author payouts), Render and Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare (file storage) and our email provider. If you accept marketing cookies, Google, Microsoft and Meta also receive data about your visit. Some providers are in the United States. Where data leaves the UK, we rely on legal safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your account until you ask us to close it. We keep order and payment records for 6 years for tax purposes. Other data, such as click records, we keep only as long as we need it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask to see, correct, delete or move your data, and object to or restrict how we use it. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
